Happy 20th Birthday, Buddy!

It's my buddy's Birthday and I decided to make him a card.
From a piece of blank paper, I carved out Happy 20 Birthday. After which I stuck another paper with a blue tile print on to the back to reveal the paper-cut words clearly.

Card Writing

Aaron approached me for help and asked me what to write for a birthday card. I told him the cliche stuff that most would write in a birthday card (i.e. well wishes, take care, etc.) I also gave him a tip to pen down special moments he shared with the birthday friend. This would make the card more personal.

He then asked me if I could help him write the message on the card itself. I hesitated, but after knowing that the birthday friend was not a close friend to him, I succumbed to his request (because Aaron was my good friend!). This was a mistake I made! :(

Everyone likes to receive cards but a personalised card makes everything special and sincere by a notch.

Here are some tips for card writing:
  1. Original Message - message from your heart
  2. Plan your message - write your message on a scrap piece of paper before transferring it to the card. This will reduce your mistakes you may make on the card
  3. Special Moments - for the receiver to reminisce
  4. Use your own handwriting - a close friend would recognise your handwriting immediately

To everyone who's giving a card to a family or friend, I would like to say this:

The most important thing in any card is not only the choice of words that you use, but it is also when the words are written in your own handwriting. That makes the card a whole lot more special. This is because the unique handwriting on the card belongs to you! No matter how ugly or beautiful your handwriting is, use it. :) It will be loved from your loved one.

Quotes!

In my opinion,
No matter how imperfect, it is the intention to create something special for a loved one that demonstrates sincerity.

* Art Advice #2 *

PVA Glue
Use PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) Glue or commonly known as 'white glue' or 'school glue' for your art work. This type of glue is a strong adhesive for handcrafted works especially paper mache or picture collage.

PVA Glue

When PVA glue dries, it is colourless. Furthermore, it gives your art work a glossy finish.

Below is an example of what my brother did for his image board for D&T (Design and Technology) in secondary school.

Woven Hearts

Carefully weaved, woven hearts may look simple but it gives a classic looking kind of embellishment. To me, sometimes simply less is more.

Woven Hearts

You may even use this as a jewelry holder/packaging. Present a ring, braclet or necklace in a woven heart and give your loved one a pleasant surprise! :)

One Birthday Card

Who ever said that cards must be made in the conventional and boring rectangular shape?
The simplicity of this card makes it beautiful.

My First Post

Hey guys,

I am new to this blogger thingy and have zero knowledge about how this works. Anyway, this being my very first post, I would like to thank several people whom I know will continue to support and believe in whatever I do. So, a big thank you to my closest friends: HM, KL, CC. :)

P.S. This blog is dedicated to all my family and friends (including phrats!).
